Obama Admisitration Looking at Short Sales

Seth Wheeler, Senior Advisor to the Treasury Department, is indicating that the Obama administration will take a closer look at foreclosures and deed in lieu of foreclosure as a solution to homeowners that are in a financially distressed situation.

It appears loan modification have not worked in the way the administration was hoping based on quotes by Seth Wheeler.

“Short sales, deeds in lieu are other ways to prevent foreclosures to help achieve stability”

“Modifications are only for a certain subset of distressed homeowners.”

Loan modifications do not make a lot of sense for many homeowners and have not been the solution that the government was hoping for to aid distressed homeowners.  They are know focusing on trying to transition homeowners out of the property and stop the bleeding.  Overall this will help homeowners and banks alike.
